Tuberculosis (TB) Awareness

Tuberculosis (TB) Awareness

Signs and Symptoms

Common symptoms of active TB include a cough that lasts three or more weeks, coughing up blood or mucus, chest pain, unintentional weight loss, fatigue, fever, night sweats, and chills. If you experience these symptoms, it's important to get tested.

Diagnosis and Treatment

TB is diagnosed through skin tests, blood tests, and chest X-rays. Treatment for TB is long—typically 6 months of taking antibiotics. It is crucial to complete the full course of medication to cure the disease and prevent the development of drug-resistant TB. Diagnosis and treatment are free in all public health facilities in Kenya.
