Maternal and Child Health

Antenatal Care (ANC)

The World Health Organization recommends at least eight ANC contacts for a positive pregnancy outcome. In Kenya, the Linda Mama programme provides free maternity services, including ANC, in public hospitals to encourage expectant mothers to seek care.

Skilled Birth Attendance

Having a skilled health professional (doctor, nurse, or midwife) present during childbirth is critical for managing complications and reducing maternal and newborn deaths. Despite progress, disparities remain, with rural and low-income women having less access.

Postnatal Care (PNC)

The postnatal period is a critical time for both mother and baby. PNC check-ups within the first 6 weeks after birth help detect and manage complications, support breastfeeding, and provide essential immunizations for the newborn.
