HIV/AIDS Prevention and Management

Prevention Strategies
Key HIV prevention methods include: consistent and correct use of condoms, Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) which reduces female-to-male transmission by about 60%, and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), a daily pill for HIV-negative individuals at high risk.
Treatment and Care
Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is the use of HIV medicines to treat HIV infection. People on ART take a combination of HIV medicines (called an HIV treatment regimen) every day. ART is recommended for everyone with HIV, and it is provided for free in public health facilities across Kenya.
Living with HIV
With access to effective treatment, people with HIV can live long, healthy lives. Adherence to ART is crucial for viral suppression, which not only improves health but also prevents transmission to others (Undetectable = Untransmittable).
